Conditions for Submissions:

WHO Can Apply?

Artists and artisans are invited to submit their application for the Juried Pelham Art Festival Online and, or the Juried In-Person 35th Pelham Art Festival 35 in 2022, beginning January 1, 2022.

We expect to find a way to make the 35th Annual Mother’s Day weekend Pelham Art Festival a special event. Artists have the choice to sell their work at the In-Person 35th Pelham Art Festival at the Meridian Community Centre, or, at Pelham Art Festival Online, or both!

Returning and New artists are welcome to apply. Your work will be juried for quality and to ensure that a wide variety of mediums will be showcased, and all artwork submitted for jurying must be for sale. 

PAF’s jurors welcome individual artists and artisans working in all mediums; painting, photography, sculpture, glass, woodturning, textiles, jewellery and more, with formal or informal training to apply. Established and emerging artists are welcome.

PAF accepts 80% original artworks and 20% may be reproductions such as giclée or limited-edition prints. Original artworks should have been completed within the last three years. Please see our Guidelines for more. Artwork in the photography category must be of signed, numbered limited edition prints.

Reproductions are welcome provided they do not exceed 20% of the total artwork on display. Please read our ReproductionPolicy information carefully before submitting an application.

All works must be hand-made by the artist. Machine-made or mass-produced works are not permitted and will result in an automatic disqualification. Please see our Reproduction Policy for details.

Pelham Art Festivals provide a welcoming place for all artists and art enthusiastsand we are committed to equity and inclusion.

Every effort will be made to help you promote and sell your artwork, and for art lovers to see and purchase the pieces they choose through our e-commerce platform. Please read through our Application Guidelines for how to apply online. Visitors, art lovers, and collectors purchase the art they love at our art festivals. Artists benefit by making sales, meeting new clients and getting exposure for their artwork.

About the In-Person 35th Pelham Art Festival
Mother’s Day weekend May 6 to May 8, 2022!

 

The Pelham Art Festival Committee is preparing for another Mother’s Day weekend In-Person Festival May 6 to 8, 2022, provided it will be prudent to do so. Due to the ongoing unpredictability of COVID-19, the PAF Committee will make every effort to find a safe way for artists and artisans to promote and sell artwork.

We expect to find a way to make the 35th Annual Mother’s Day weekend In-Person Pelham Art Festival a special event for visitors, art lovers, and collectors to enjoy beautiful art and purchase the pieces they love, Join us at the Meridian Community Centre located on 100 Meridian Way in the Village of Fonthill, Town of Pelham, in the heart of the Ontario Niagara Region.

This will require ingenuity and flexibility! At this time, we do not yet know what the format of the festival will be, but we are planning for a 2022 In-Person Festival. 

We invite artists and artisans to apply to participate in the juried 35th Pelham Art Festival In-Person in 2022, beginning January 1, 2022.

PAF’s jurors welcome individual fine arts artists and artisans working in all mediums; painting, photography, sculpture, glass, textiles, jewellery, wood creations and more, with formal or informal training to apply. Established and emerging artists are welcome.

International Artists

If you are applying from outside of Canada, it is your responsibility to get the appropriate paperwork to enter Canada to sell your works. We do not provide invitations to artists for visa applications. All travel, accommodations, shipping and customs expenses are your responsibility. We recommend working with a licensed customs broker to import your works into Canada.

All submissions will be juried. All artwork submitted for jurying must be for sale, and all artwork submitted online for the in-person festival must be for sale. The application handling fee is non-refundable.

PAF accepts 80% original artworks and 20% may be reproductions such as giclée or limited-edition prints. Artists are encouraged to submit original artworks created within the last three years. Since the Festival is a fundraising event, the Festival Committee reserves the right to jury returning artists who consistently experience little to no sales to offer opportunities for new artists to display and sell their work. In such an event, the request to return will be held on a waitlist in order of receipt after the new artist applications have been juried on or after March 22, 2022.

All submissions will be juried.  All artwork submitted for jurying must be for sale. The application handling fee is non-refundable.

PAF is recognized as one of the premier spring arts festivals in Ontario, hosting nationally and internationally acclaimed Canadian artists and welcoming thousands of visitors, art lovers, and collectors to the Festival every year. Collectively our visitors spend over $50,000 annually on buying art, contributing to the economic prosperity of the participating artists and the cultural vibrancy of Pelham.

Over 80 juried emerging and established fine arts artists and artisans working in an array of disciplines come together annually to showcase and sell work directly to the public. Together with our committed and generous community of donors, we celebrate artistic excellence and our artists’ entrepreneurial spirit. Artists have joined us with the same overall intention to raise funds to donate to the Pelham Library System, art scholarships and community arts projects. Join us for the exciting 2022 Festival!

Friday Opening Night
On Friday evening, sample hors d’oeuvres were catered and served in the past by Welland’s Rose City Kids. Guests are offered the first opportunity to purchase favourite pieces of artwork from the professional artists and artisans selected to participate in the Festival and enjoy a glass of Niagara wine at our Wine Garden, all to live music.
Saturday and Sunday
Festival guests stroll through artists' booths, purchase delightful works of art, and pause to enjoy a delicious treat from the a la carte menu catered in the recent past by Churchhill Natural Meats and Nature’s Corner Bakery and Cafe at our on-site Salvador Deli. Volunteer sitters cover booths while artists enjoy delicious deli luncheons. Live entertainment and the Wine Garden continue all weekend with art-related activities including the popular Art Scavenger Hunt featured for children.
Mother's Day Sunday Brunch
Guests enjoy a sumptuous brunch in the past years catered by chef Ray Haymes from Churchhill Natural Meats, and Rachel Haymes from Nature’s Corner Bakery and Cafe at our on-site Salvador Deli on Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm. Artists are welcome at the brunch or to choose from the a la carte menu. Mother's Day is the perfect day to invite Mothers to admire inspirational works of art and to select the perfect piece of art just for her. Live musical entertainment creates a welcoming and melodic ambience for brunch guests to enjoy, and the Wine Garden is open. Activities for children including the Art Scavenger Hunt continue.

ABOUT the Pelham Art Festival

Now in its 35th year, the Annual In-Person Pelham Art Festival held on Mother’s Day weekend in Pelham’s Meridian Community Centre draws thousands of visitors from across Southern Ontario, and is recognized as one of the premier spring art festivals in Ontario hosting nationally and internationally acclaimed Canadian artists. Typically, over 80 emerging and established Ontario fine art artists and artisans working in an array of disciplines come together annually to showcase and sell their work directly to the public.

Collectively our visitors, art lovers and collectors, spend over $50,000 annually on buying art, contributing to the economic prosperity of our participating artists and the cultural vibrancy of Pelham. The first successful Online Festival was held in 2021, courtesy of COVID and we are looking forward to the new Pelham Holiday Artfest Online show and sale!

The Festival is a fund-raising event, and artists donate back 15% of their sales. We are a proud community sponsor of Pelham Public libraries and the arts. Festival proceeds benefit the Pelham libraries and provide annual scholarships to graduating Pelham students pursuing post-secondary studies in fine arts from E.L. Crossley Secondary School, Notre Dame College School and to Pelham students enrolled in the Art and Design Program at Niagara College. The Festival also supports various community arts projects. Pelham Art Festival Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation.

NEW Festivals 2022

The Pelham Art Festival Committee is preparing for a Mother’s Day weekend In-Person Festival May 6 to 8, 2022, provided it will be prudent to do so. Due to the ongoing unpredictability of COVID-19, the Committee will make every effort to find a safe way for artists to promote and sell artwork and for visitors, collectors and art lovers to enjoy and purchase beautiful art.

The PAF Committee expects to find a way to make the 35th Annual In-Person Pelham Art Festival a special event. As usual, it is scheduled to be held on Mother’s Day weekend at Pelham’s Meridian Community Centre in the Accipiter Arena. Concurrently, for May of 2022, the PAF Committee is preparing a Pelham Art Festival Online show. Artists will be welcome to participate in the 35th Annual In-Person Pelham Art Festival or Pelham Art Festival Online, or both.

WHY Apply To PAF?

1. Be part of the art community: We are committed to the artists who participate in Pelham Art Festivals and as such, a strong social media, digital and local ad campaign will be implemented before and during all of our Festivals to help attract attention. This includes the Online Holiday Artfest. 

2. Participate in training: We offer our artists opportunities for you to learn how to provide good quality images to promote your work online through extra training and support if you need them. 

3. Grow your network for Pelham Art Festival and Online Festivals: PAF is a well-respected Festival where many artists return year after year saying they love the atmosphere and feel warmly welcomed. Every effort will be made to help you promote and sell your artwork and for art lovers to see and purchase art through both Pelham Art Festival formats.

4. Online sales experience: Showcase your artworks online on our user-friendly e-commerce platform. 

5. Featured 2022 Theme: Pelham Art Festival Online May 2022 and the May 2022 In-Person 35th Pelham Art Festival invites artists to participate in a featured theme of the year with a specially created work of art for the Festivals. Artists join in our theme activity by creating in a favourite medium: a painting, fine art photography, sculpture, glass, ceramic or wood creation, a piece of jewellery, or wearable art inspired by the new theme, to be announced in 2022. Pelham Holiday Artfest Online 2021 provides artists with the opportunity to participate in “Creative Gems” with small artworks at affordable prices, perfect for gift giving!

WHAT Do We Offer?

  • Our in-person festival welcomes 2500+ visitors, and our online festival, 5,300+ visitors.
    We offer a successful and comprehensive marketing campaign:  Benefit from our multi-platform marketing and promotions that resulted in a total of 2.5 million media impressions from 2021’s campaign. Our social media portion of the total ad campaign reached 38,159 people, resulting in 82,361 media impressions. We've experienced great online growth and expect an even more expansive 2022 reach. Plus, the additional opportunity to be spotlighted through our social media channels on Facebook and Instagram with an engaged audience continues to grow.

  • Ongoing professional development: Dedicated support and guidance from our team through application workshops, juried art, and social media workshops (how to grow your digital outreach and social media skills).

  • Free online and in-person resources and support: Assistance and troubleshooting for your artist and product pages, training, instructional videos, and volunteers to assist you in setting up your in-person booth display and comprehensive artist information is available.

  • And so much more!

WHAT Do Artists Have To Say?  

PAF is proud to have hosted many renowned Canadian artists such as Robert Amirault, Rosemarie Armstrong, Janny Fraser, Linda Kemp, George Langbroek, Doug Mays, Sonja Mortimer, Edward Spera, Josh Tiessen and Steve Wilson to name a few.

Artists agree the Pelham Art Festival is a successful, professional, well-organized event. Many artists come back year after year saying that they enjoy the great In-Person Festival and comment on the warm, friendly, ambience that is unique to Niagara. They appreciate the volunteer assistance, and in 2019 they were enthusiastic about the wonderful new venue at the Meridian Community Centre in Pelham’s Fonthill.

HOW Can I Apply?

All applications are submitted online through the Pelham Art Festival website. If you have applied before, please login to reapply. New artists create an account here. Please check spam and junk folders if you have not received an email confirmation. Keep your login information safe, since you will need it later to check your results on your Artist Dashboard. When new artists are accepted by the jury process, payment is due.

Up to 15 images - $150.00
Up to 25 images - $225.00

COVID-19 Safety Measures:

The PAF team cares about the health and safety of our artists and the public we serve. Although we had to cancel the in-person show in 2020 and again in 2021, we are hopeful to return to an in-person show in May 2022, following the safety guidelines provided by Niagara Region Public Health.
