Laura Kroesbergen is a hyperrealistic pastel artist based in Hamilton, Ontario. She has a passion for creating beautiful, lifelike paintings of animals. When she looks at an animal, she sees its beauty, and more importantly, its spirit, and she strives to capture both its appearance and its essence in each painting. She is entirely self-taught, having been drawing since she could hold a pencil. As a child, she was already passionate about creating realistic images in pencil. She would sketch something out, usually a horse, and then imagine it coming to life as she coloured it in. In her early 20s she began to use soft pastel, which is currently her medium of choice.
She has a special love for horses and leopards and she truly desires to share the amazing beauty of these creatures to the world.
