Spirit Nead (Spirit Nest)

A paper mache mask set on a large robin's nest. It opens to reveal a unique and symbolic interior. I lived in Yukon for twelve years and became familiar with the Spirit Houses some of the Indigenous People put on the graves of their loved ones. I was very much taken with the idea of a house for the soul and because this piece is based on a bird's home it is called: Spirit Nead. (Nead is Gaelic for nest, pronounced nay-ad)
