One Black Sheep
Rosemarie Armstrong

'One Black Sheep' is a metaphor; in this painting the black sheep represents the impact of urbanization on agriculture. Protecting our farmlands, soil and groundwater is critical to secure our environmental health and food security. Farmlands are a habitat for wildlife and include wetlands and watersheds which affect our air quality. Sheep play a critical role in improving soil health, using their hooves to mix the manure and soil, thereby helping build organic matter.
