This Land- Somber Sun

“Somber Sun” reflects my deepest, quietest moments in the Canadian wilderness. In 2022, I planted trees in the remote township of Bob Quinn, nestled in Northern British Columbia. In this solitude, I recognized how much of the natural world I had reduced to labels, neatly filed away like a botanical encyclopedia. “Tree.” “Bird.” “Bear.” These words, once sufficient, began to feel hollow—unable to hold the depth of what they named. What I thought I knew became something I had to feel again.
