Artist Gallery: Jill Sapiente

Smithville

Biography:
Jill Sapiente is a self taught Canadian artist, known for her expressionistic landscapes and wildlife paintings, using a tactile approach. Her work is distinguished by a rich textural layering, which is accomplished by using a combination of colour and illumination, appealing to collectors who value emotional resonance.
Description:
I explore nature with a sketchbook and a camera. My process involves a balance of value, colour and composition. I create emotion by the 'push and pull' of the paint throughout the canvas, using a pallet knife, brushes and sometimes my hands.
