Like a red rose in the sky, the Rosette Nebula is a region where hydrogen gas is undergoing active star formation. It is 130 light-years across and 5000 light-years from Earth. This image was captured from southern Ontario with 3 hours of exposure, using an astro-modified DSLR and narrowband filter.
