WELLAND
I created my first painting in 1967 and I was hooked. Now, 39 years later I'm still trying to get it right. I can't even imagine how many cups of coffee that must add up to. I think it's fair to say that much of my work happens not in the studio, but in my head while I'm driving around. As a result I plan and group my work, thematically. I will hit upon a subject matter and decide to explore it throughly through images of one specific type, keeping it simple and emphasizing colour, light and shadow.
Perfection is not created by knowing how much more to add but knowing if there is any more to take away.
