Deb Malcolm is a Red River Metis artist, born in Toronto. After finding her birth family and learning of her Metis ancestry, she embarked on a journey to find a way to connect. Now a proud Manitoba Metis Federation citizen, she shares her love of nature and her pride in highlighting the contemporary and historical past time of beading.
Inspired by the beauty in the floral world along with traditional patterns found on Red River Metis artifacts, Deb creates the unique designs that mimic that beading. Each dot of acrylic paint is applied to a wood canvas using a stylus.The completed work is colourful and textured.

Her work can be found in collections in Fort Erie, Toronto and Guelph as well as in northern Ontario, Alberta, BC and the US.
