Slow Down and Listen

There is a particular grief when autumn releases its last colour and the world goes quiet - no snow yet, the land just stripped and waiting. Walking our creek trail with my three-year-old, I found myself looking down at bare branches and beech leaves dancing in cold water; luminous in their smallness. This land doesn't ask to be witnessed, but it reveals itself to those who slow down long enough to listen.
