My Rustic Chrome Series of oil paintings was inspired by a visit to the Canadian Transportation Museum in Essex, Ontario. Painted in a detailed surrealist style, they feature stylish 1950s classic cars and rich, bright, striking colours brought on by summer days of rural settings. Smooth blending of tones and colours contrast with rustic textures allowing the rural atmosphere, automotive design and nostalgic imagery to evoke memories from a previous era. In keeping with a nostalgic theme, I’m driving forward Rustic Chrome from 1950s to 1960s, classic cars to hot rods, from barns in rural settings to the “flower power” era. As a compliment, my Rural Atmospheres series of paintings also feature rural settings but have big dramatic skies that represent my personal way of seeing everyday objects in spacial scenes such as barns, farmers fields and skies in a surrealistic manner. I've won numerous Hamilton ACE awards as art director / illustrator. Ontario College of Art graduate.
