11 Bigleaf Maple Burl Plate

Bigleaf maple is the largest maple in Canada and only grows in the southwest corner of BC. The burl is an outgrowth on the tree where the grain has grown in a distorted manner, typically due to stress. Enhancing the unique and highly figured wood grain was the goal for this wood turned piece. Each wood turned item is hand sanded and sealed with a food-grade, highly durable gloss finish.
