Ghosts of Summer I

Margaret Dent

Wet cyanotype print of the dried Lilly of the Valley leaves from my garden. Cyanotype process, otherwise known as blueprints, was developed in 1842 by Sir John Frederick William Herschel. The process starts with coating the paper with photosensitive chemicals (non-toxic). I then arrange my materials and expose the paper either in direct sunlight or using UV lights. Once exposed, the paper is washed in water to develop and set the image. It is, in a way, a sun print.
