The 36th Pelham Art Festival Onsite Best in Show People's Choice Tied Award Winners are Artists Helen Griffiths and Lyndsey Casey

The 36th Pelham Art Festival Show and Sale of original fine art was held from May 12 to May 14 in the Accipiter Arena at Pelham's Meridian Community Centre where Festival visitors voted for the People's Choice Award for a Festival artist.

Artists tied for the award Helen Griffiths and Lyndsey Casey were chosen by the people and presented with the People's Choice Award by Festival Chair Heidi TeBrake which was generously donated by Natalia Shields Photography on Sunday, May 14th.

Helen Griffiths

Helen has always filled her time with drawing and painting or creating in one way or another. She attended and graduated from the Illustration program at Sheridan College and worked as a freelance artist in the commercial art field. 

She eventually started to combine her passion for birds with her love of painting, personifying them but never humanizing them, telling the stories she wanted to tell. Helen can usually be found painting her oils in her home studio and occasionally painting locally en plein air.

Lyndsey Casey

The diversity of colours, beauty and harmony fascinates Lyndsey as she uses impressions she takes from travels and Ontario’s majestic nature in its abstract form with bright explosive colours in her painting while seasonal colours and nature's energy inspire her and drives her artistic creation.

Her fun personality captures a unique and uninhibited interpretation of nature, one filled with whimsy and enchantment, playful flowing lines, unexpected drips, and dreamy layers that strike a beautiful happy balance between reality and abstraction of botanical, animals and landscapes.
