Red Meteor by the Dairy

From my Rustic Chrome series, this painting was inspired by a place near a dairy in Niagara-on-the-lake which takes me back to my youth. Features an arrangement of rustic hay bails that contrasts with the slick front end of a classic "Canadian" Ford Meteor. I begin with a concept photographing my own reference, and then a detailed pencil sketch, afterwards applying colour using a poppyseed oil medium. Finished with a Satin varnish. Framed with 1 x 4 purple stained pine and ready to hang.
